ADDRESS Av. Ámsterdam, Hipódromo, CDMX

HOURS Public - Open 24 hours

I encourage you to explore the endless, winding track path that forms this iconic oval, not just for the photos, but for the experience of walking it. It's great to include in your trip to Parque México and Parque España. Check out the rest of the Ámsterdam photography guide below.

The entire street is a one-way circuit built over what used to be an old horse racing track, and that history still dictates the flow today. The central pedestrian walkway (camellón is a lush, paved spine that lets you cut through the heart of Condesa while being completely shaded by a canopy of palms and vines.

You’ll find people jogging with high-end designer dogs, hidden benches tucked into the greenery, and tiny paths that lead you directly into the patio of a hidden coffee shop. It’s like a botanical garden that someone accidentally built a neighborhood around.

Ámsterdam Photography Guide Notes

The central track is a narrow, leafy corridor, and the surrounding cafes and boutiques are quite tight when it comes to space. Consider a small backpack and a wide lens (35mm or wider when it comes to adventuring and documenting your experiences) you’ll need the wider field of view to capture the towering Art Deco facades from the sidewalk.

SAFETY TIPS

Capturing images of the buildings from the street is totally fine and very common here. Just keep your "street smarts" on when standing in the central path—cyclists and runners use this as a main thoroughfare, so keep an eye out to avoid a collision while you're lining up a shot.

BEST TIME AND SEASON TO VISIT

Many shops open at 11am.

SCENE DESCRIPTION
