Insurgentes Photography Guide

Insurgentes is another one of Mexico City’s most iconic avenues, stretching through a mix of historic, commercial, and modern neighborhoods. It crosses Paseo de La Reforma going north to south.

It’s a long, bustling street lined with trees, shops, theaters, and cafés, offering endless perspectives for urban photography.

Starting near Reforma, the avenue is wide and open, perfect for capturing the flow of traffic, buses, and pedestrians.

Moving south, it passes through neighborhoods like Roma and Col Del Valle, where tree-lined streets and smaller side avenues create more intimate, detailed compositions.

Along its length, the mix of historic facades, modern buildings, and colorful murals gives photographers plenty of variety, making it worth exploring multiple sections to see which perspective fits your vision.

If you’re in the city, walking or biking along Insurgentes offers a unique way to capture the city’s energy and diversity. It can get quite busy and tight at times, keep your gear discreet and close to you. It is also a popular metro and bus route.

Avoid taking public transport at rush hour if you don't want to be packed like sardines.
