Paseo de la Reforma is one of Mexico City’s most iconic avenues, stretching for several kilometers through the heart of the city east to west. It's where you will be spending a lot of time walking since it takes you through many neighborhoods.
It begins near Alameda Central, one of the city’s oldest public parks, where the historic architecture and busy street life create excellent opportunities for capturing local vendors, pedestrians, and urban details.
Continuing west, the avenue passes the Monumento a la Revolución, a massive landmark surrounded by wide plazas and dramatic perspectives that are ideal for both wide-angle and detailed shots.
From there, Reforma moves through neighborhoods with a mix of historic façades and modern office buildings, eventually reaching Polanco, where upscale shops, luxury apartments, and tree-lined streets create a completely different vibe, perfect for contrasting modern city life with the avenue’s historic character.
Finally, Reforma continues toward Bosque de Chapultepec, offering open stretches with fountains, sculptures, and green spaces that make for beautiful compositions and long, leading lines in your photographs.
Along the entire route, the trees, monuments, and urban details provide constantly changing visual opportunities, whether you’re shooting architecture, street life, or environmental portraits.
The avenue is even more vibrant and unique on Sundays during the “Muévete en Bici” bike closure, when cars are fully blocked and the wide boulevard becomes open to cyclists, walkers, and skaters, creating a lively, energetic atmosphere that is perfect for capturing the city in motion.
Paseo de la Reforma has bus transportation that takes you back and forth quickly and affordably.

Reforma’s wide lanes and open spaces make it perfect for capturing scale and movement, especially with people cycling, walking, or skating along the boulevard. Early mornings give soft light and calm streets, while late afternoons create long shadows and dramatic tones.
The mix of greenery, fountains, and sculptures adds depth to your compositions, and the avenue feels lively yet safe enough to stay on for night photography.
