El Nido de Quetzalcóatl is one of those places that make you feel like you are in a Dr. Seuss book.
Nido de Quetzalcóatl is a striking example of organic architecture, where flowing, curved forms mimic natural shapes and reject straight lines. The twisting walls, undulating staircases, and irregular openings create unique perspectives and dramatic shadows for photography.
Look for contrasts between natural light spilling through curved openings and the textured surfaces of the structure.
El Nido de Quetzalcóatl was designed and built by Mexican architect Javier Senosiain Aguilar, a leading figure in organic architecture who aimed to create buildings that harmonize with nature rather than impose rigid, artificial forms on the landscape.
Senosiain’s philosophy rejects straight lines, believing that nature’s forms are predominantly curved and organic.
It is a decades long project slated to open to the public in a few years. For now, you can only access it via a private tour, or renting one of their Airbnb on site for the night.
Visits to Nido de Quetzalcóatl require booking a private tour in advance. Email hola@parquequetzalcoatl.com to reserve your spot, as the site is not always open to the public.
Tours typically take place in the morning and include a private driver who will pick you up and drop you off after the visit. Plan ahead to ensure availability and the best experience.

BEST TIME AND SEASON TO VISIT
Open year round, contact hola@parquequetzalcoatl.com in advance to book a private tour. You can also book an airbnb on site. They usually offer two tours, one around 10 am, and one around 2pm. Try to book the afternoon tour to get more cinematic light. The tour is about 3 hours long.
SAFETY TIPS
The park is on private grounds and safe. You will have a tour guide with you at all times.
WHERE TO EAT
Plan to eat before or after your tour in the city. During the tour there will be a break with fresh fruit and bottled water given.
